Back to A Sister's Story

Sister Rose Miriam Gansle

Sister Rose Miriam GansleHello! My name is Sister Rose Miriam Gansle. Corpus Christi is the place of my birth and growing up years. Except for my teaching four years in Brownsville and two years in Kingsville, Corpus Christi has been my home.

Here I entered the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament community September 8, 1960, a few months after graduating from high school. These Sisters were my teachers from pre-Kinder through high school. Growing up I had an intense desire to be a Sister and was attracted to the Sisters whom I knew well. I admired them and wanted to give my life to God as they did.

Leaving home was difficult, especially because at that time the Sisters usually did not invite people into the convent. So their day-to-day life was a mystery to me.

Sister Rose Miriam GansleOf course there have been difficult times through the years, but much joy as well. Our living, sharing, and praying together gives me support, inspiration, and strength. With the call to teaching, vocation ministry, initial formation ministry, secretarial ministry, music ministry, and family ministry, I have had countless opportunities for learning, meeting people, and growing personally. In ministry I have discovered gifts and skills that were unknown to me before. The greatest blessing of all is growing in intimacy with God and being free to serve. I know I am where I am meant to be.

I encourage discerners to maintain a deep prayer life, seek spiritual guidance, visit communities of religious and get to know the members and their way of life. Listen to your heart, to your family and friends, and to the circumstances of your life. God is showing you the way! Trust and celebrate each step in your discernment.
